why can't we be friends?
I am one of the select few people in the world who, being born with superior intellect and good looks, have found extreme annoyance at the piss poor grammar in the world. Granted, I don't always use perfect grammar. But at least what I say makes sense!
Grammar nazi. That's me. Too many advanced English classes, too much time spent with my nose in a book, too many smart friends have all molded me into the judgmental brat I have become when it comes to grammar. And yeah, I'm pretty good at spelling. I've got this crazy memory. Like almost photographic. I've never studied for a spelling test in my entire life, and that includes in human anatomy exams.
I also have a fiery hatred for debate/arguing/insult-slinging/opinion-waging type conversations on the internet. Regardless of what you believe, or how well you believe it, you will never bring someone over to your side of thinking by calling them a douche bag in a comment on a blog or article. Imagine that. I am of the opinion that if you disagree with someone, feel free to say that. But don't leave a comment riddled with angry rhetoric about how wrong someone is. You'll never convert someone to your way of thinking through that method. Sorry. The truth hurts. On the other hand, you can gain mad respect for respectfully disagreeing. You might not gain respect from the author of the blog, or whomever your thoughts are directed toward, but there are more people on the interwebs than just that one person. You never know who you could affect in a positive way, just by stating your opinion, while respecting that of the others around you.
We just need a little more honesty and respect in this world. Too many people are convinced that they are always right, and that everyone needs to know how right they are. Humility seems to be a thing of the past. Well, I say, give humility a chance. You never know what you might be able to achieve that way.
