here we go again. successfully.

It's happened again. The sands through the hourglass have brought the return of an empty bank account. The difference this time is that I'm okay with it.

You see, the problem with living paycheck to paycheck is that you can't really breathe. There is no room for breathing. You have to keep holding it until that magical two weeks is up. And sometimes that magical two weeks ends up two weeks away. Like, the day after you paid your rent and your cell phone bill, and the internet bill, and utilities, and your tank of gas, you have to start holding your breath again.

I hate the first of the month.

But like I said, this time I'm okay with it. Because after months of being behind, last month, we finally caught up on our tithing. And it feels amazing. And we qualify for so many more blessings now. Like being able to breathe, in spite of the account being bone dry. Because even though I know that's the case, I also know the Lord will take care of us. And we're determined to be better with our money, so the time is fast approaching when we won't have anymore weeks of holding our breath at all.

We might be poor as church mice. We might be the typical struggling college students that everyone hears about. We might be low on sleep and free time. Yep, that's us. But you know what? I feel pretty darn successful being a struggling college student. Because being successful doesn't mean I'm wealthy, or that I have a huge house, or thousands in investments. In fact, I read a comment on a blog recently, that spelled it out perfectly for me.

"..."success" isn't shiny happy people spouting their wisdom and achievements."

Darn right it's not. I consider it a success that I made it out of bed this morning, let alone got to the gym. The heavens were opened and singing, "Hallelujah!" when I got to work on time. Success is being real. Living your life in a completely honest, true-to-yourself way, that shouts to the world, "THIS IS ME, I LIKE IT, AND I'M GLAD TO BE HERE!" That's right. Success=honesty. Pretty hard to come by, but glorious to behold.

And these honest church mice are going to keep being real and true, even if we have to hold our breath until doomsday.
